CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science Online Graduate Certificate Program

The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science (GGIS) now offers a graduate-level certificate in CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science. This certificate is designed to meet the existing high demand for advanced  expertise to solve industry problems.

The graduate-level certificate is a 12-credit program and provides an ideal bridge into the 32-credit hour online CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science degree should students desire to continue on for an advanced graduate degree. The certificate is fully online, which precludes the need for an extended absence from a current job and/or familial responsibilities and maximizes learning flexibility.

The CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science graduate certificate is a highly-sought after micro-credential in a field that is ever changing. As with other micro-credentials, a certificate in this field of expertise is an excellent addition to a professional’s LinkedIn profile and resume, indicating successful completion of a number of advanced, graduate-level courses at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign taught by world-class faculty, researchers and industry experts.  After successful completion of the graduate certificate program, the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science (GGIS) will issue both electronic and paper certificates for posting and sharing with professional networks.

Students completing the CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science graduate certificate must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours offered online by the Department of GGIS.  Once your application is submitted and approved, students should consult a program adviser regarding course selection and sequencing based upon their particular area of interest, skills and desired professional goals. Students will work with an adviser to select courses from the following: GGIS 403, GGIS 407, GGIS 507, GGIS 517 and GGIS 527. See the curriculum listing for detailed course descriptions. Other course options may be discussed with an adviser.
